My favorite time to photograph Wild Mustangs is in the dead of winter. I prefer going alone so I can be with the Mustangs, my thoughts and my camera. I’ve never seen another photographer during these winter outings. I four-wheel drive many hours through deep snow in search of Mustangs, and hope to add to the recipe beautiful light and an interesting composition. It can be surreal to drive in low clouds at “Lookout Pass” then become swallowed by dense fog dropping down into the desert basin. I hope you find my winter scenes extraordinary, where the Mustangs are at their best, enduring the worst that mother nature can throw at them. Consider donating to a Wild Horse charitable organization of your choosing to protect this magnificent creature which is part of our American fabric and heritage.
